The defensive side of the ball is where my Barnes excitement resides. This issue shows up more as a slasher and on the defensive end. A very good defensive player for his size who is a basketball genius and underrated offensively. I thought his vision and ambition as a passer was phenomenal, along with his size for the point guard position. His handle and space creation at his size can be considered special without much pushback from people who have seen him. I view him more as a multi-year project who is somebody to monitor. If you’re looking for players who display both statistical and athletic indicators towards improvement and winning value, Coleman has to be near the top of your list. On the other hand, he is very skinny and lacks strength and at times physicality, which will prove an issue to play consistent minutes at the Center position, and he struggled against other top bigs during his senior season. Though Green’s decision making did seem to take a step forward during his senior year, it still leaves a lot to be desired. It’s a … He’s a good athlete coupled by fantastic size. My main issue with Christopher is the lack of motor, despite being a guy who is an elite athlete and will go through stretches on offense where he’s in constant attack mode. Barnes seems to be the nominal point guard for a Florida State team without many guards, which will be interesting to see. His strength and balance have the chance to be very, very high level, which when coupled with his handle, finishing ability and passing, creates a very hard player to guard. Cade Cunningham, B.J. I do think his athleticism can at times be overrated though. He also would hustle to get back on defense to cut off penetration to prevent opponents from getting easy scores on the break, as he was able to help force some passing turnovers. In EYBL, Moody averaged just over 19 shot attempts per36 with a 0.416 3PTr. So there had 4 PGs (so Malédon, Strazel, Jordan Taylor and Antoine Diot, a real injury prone, but former Parker … I still remain top 10 high on Jalen Johnson but there is some more skepticism in my evaluation than I originally had. Great shooting, elite length, great instincts and defensive talent. Contrat Club: du 01.07.2020 au 30.06.2021 Experience LNB: 4ème saison Carrière en Clubs. He is a very athletic, high-motor combo forward that may have a great deal of upside. I don’t chase floors though, which means I’m buying into a higher ceiling with Moody than most give credit. Matthew Strazel – 8/5/2002 – Second Round. A lot of people will claim that stuff improves while moving up in competition but I think motor and effort generally translate pretty well, good or bad. Started developing more counters & downhill aggression. His awareness and reaction speed are some of the best, if not the best in the class. Strazel is a feisty, high-motor player that defends hard, and he is a tenacious defender that will fight relentlessly through screens to stay with the opposing ball handlers. I’ll also talk about the G-league Ignite players I think are real prospects. My first impression wasn’t the best but I’m open to changing that opinion, of course. I’ll also include the range I’d currently have them. Jackson is an elite athlete and I am not using “elite” lightly. Isaiah Jackson could have one of the more volatile stocks throughout the college basketball season. Taille: 182cm . He shows excellent flashes and already solid production in off-the-dribble shooting with the ability to shoot over the top due to his length. He is an unselfish player that will look to find the open man, and he is a good passer out of the post. He can use either hand to finish plays around the basket, and he will drive hard to the rim to score on layups and crafty runners. He also drew free throws off of a defensive rebound, and he would run the floor hard to get open for scoring opportunities off of cuts, rolls, and on fast breaks. For example, I think Johnson has some glaring athletic flaws that will hold back his slashing abilities at the next level, despite him also having some athletic traits that are very good. However, he displayed just average at best playmaking skills in this game. His balance and quickness when navigating traffic with double moves, behind the back dribbles, change of direction crossovers are all jaw-dropping at times and despite his frame, he loves contact and physicality. A lot has already been made of the 2020 freshman class (aka the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery), and for good reason. The lack of ability to change stride length causes issues with allowing defenders to recover and stay in front of him, forcing him into tougher shots near the rim. Without complex, the 19-year-old French playmaker has the particularity of benefiting from more playing time for his debut in the biggest league in the world (21 minutes and 7 points on average over the first six … I decided to watch him play in two basketball games for ASVEL, one against Baskonia that took place on October 29th, 2019, as I saw that with thanks to YouTube via Pigono Basketball. Not just for his size, but in regards to all prospects. Euroleague is brimming of basketball talents. Nakic was able to poke a ball away from an opposing ball handler to nearly get a steal. There’s also already enticing off-movement flashes as a shooter. A pretty down C class next year, Hukporti could find himself in the C2 or C3 convo. A true marvel when he’s able to take off near the rim and he doesn’t need much space or time to explode upwards. However, sometimes he can tend to throw hasty, inaccurate passes, and he threw an ill-advised jump pass that got intercepted. He uses elite eye manipulation and other set-up tricks to free pathways, can complete passes with either hand out of live-dribble scenarios and is overall a very good decision maker. If he can tweak his release and add some strength, the shot is fixable with good upside. Will finished 2nd half later but really impressive first half from Jalen Suggs yesterday. However, it won’t be the first time he’s been in the role of a lead guard, as he played PG in EYBL and was quite good at it (122 assists to 46 turnovers in 18 games). Still, I remain a skeptic on his future as a consistent shooter. What could separate him is his ability to put it on the floor and attack closeouts, along with play in ISO situations against other bigs. As a finisher, Coleman is extremely explosive and strong, allowing him to go through contact and over defenders. He is a very athletic combo forward that can score the basketball in a variety of ways, and he is a rangy defender that can play shutdown defense. Plus, he also showed off adequate defensive skills when he was on the court. Despite showing a pass-first mentality and a willingness to set the table, Maledon didn’t rack up many assists in this game, and he also committed a couple of careless turnovers on offense. It’s impossible to stay in front of him if you’re playing him straight up. I lean towards the latter. The two of them versus the class as a whole though, I’m a bit lower on both than consensus seems to be. pic.twitter.com/Y5ngHhTgYZ, — Ross Homan (@Ross_homan1) December 20, 2019. Matthew Strazel showed a solid ability to knock down jumpers. That led to almost 23 points per36, a number that was higher than numerous other players who will get drafted lottery in 2021. Matthew Hurt, Sam Hauser, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jaime Jaquez, Wendell Moore, Keyontae Johnson, Santi Aldama, DJ Carton, Oscar Tshiebwe. As far as his athleticism, Cade show’s some high-level burst for his size along with tremendous strength and balance. 2019 EYBL he carried a 0.478 FTr and was one of a dozen or so players to average at least 1 steal and 1 block per36 (he averaged 2.1 steals). There are a few higher rated prospects who I really like but am unsure if their situation or physical readiness will allow them to put up enough numbers and usage to give them enough buzz to be one-and-done prospects. Really, really talented on-ball defender who also has great awareness as an off-ball help guy. There’s not a ton of tape on Garcia out there but his skillset and size are enough to make him an NBA prospect. He tends to often make the simplistic, correct play. However, he tended to get caught on screens, as he would struggle to get past taller, stronger big men that would set those picks, and he would end up trailing the pick and roll ball handler, as the play would result in his team to commit fouls and allow scores. If Johnson decides to go a route where he wants to be an initiator, we still could be looking at a very good prospect, but there is legit downside in that route with his lack of horizontal explosion, shooting and space creation. 8 3PT makes in the 2 games. He is by no means bad in those areas, but they do need cleaned up. I’m going to give out a lot of names but not dive into any of the specific prospects much. Watch this Isaiah Jackson stuff https://t.co/Q1ZocD0EPj, — Ross Homan (@Ross_homan1) November 23, 2019. The versatility and constant repetition are good things to see moving forward. Matthew Strazel Got ALL The Moves https://ovrt.me/37p0fv6 We hung out with French Star Juhann Begarin at BWB in Chicago this year and learned more about him! His best avenue to being a productive and valuable NBA player is a versatile four who’s able to provide rim gravity and some floor spacing (I’m more skeptical on the shot), guard forwards and be a solid weakside rim protector. + team defender. Top 20 guy for me in the 2020 HS class. Some Andre Jackson vs Sanford this morning. He will need consistent playing time to show NBA scouts and teams what he can do at higher levels. I will say though, I think touch is something that takes time to get back after missing extended time, as Roach did. Out of the class though, Nix is the guy I’ve seen the least amount of so I remain a TBD. This year in particular is a fairly strong class of international … Uno de sus puntos negros, que mejorará poco a poco, son las malas selecciones de tiro. Still, he could project to be a solid role player in the league, and he could be a good value pick for an NBA team in the mid to late first round range of the 2020 draft. GB3.Elite 2 foot jumper. En l’occurrence, pour le contingent tricolore, il y aura pas mal de candidats intéressants, et ce, d’un … Somewhat robotic but incredible explosion & strength. Now I lean towards being lower on him for a few separate reasons. If you build a prototype 3-and-D guard, you’d get something similar to Moses Moody. Both as a passer and as a defensive player, Suggs excels when he has the ability to play fast and in off-script scenarios. Overall, Usman Garuba played very well in his team’s win over ASVEL, and he could potentially end up being a top 5 pick in the 2021 draft. Ones that I do think will be one-and-done but understand it’s not as certain as all the top players listed above. Moody uses his length very well and doesn’t mind physicality. Loves the pull up going left, gets guys in jail, started passing better. His ability to reach max height quickly gives him a lot of advantages as a finisher and shot blocker. Real Madrid’s 6-6, Serbian swingman Mario Nakic started the game, and he was able to make some solid plays for his team in the first quarter. Read more.. mojave king Scouting Report. If you want to look at the positives, with Jackson’s shooting indicators, his willingness as a versatile shooter, both off-the-dribble and as a catch and shoot player, he shows a decent baseline of form and confidence. The issues for me are his lower body biomechanics and basketball awareness that could cap his ceiling, along with the shooting projection that I don’t believe in. The ability to shoot off the bounce, off movement, and relocate around the perimeter are all tools that Suggs now has. 2019-21 : Lyon-Villeurbanne (Jeep ÉLITE) Distinctions: Palmares: Centre de formation: Lyon-Villeurbanne. Have said it time and time again but really love the fit of Kentucky’s class next year. Draft talk all year round. Sports – UPROXX, by Bill DiFilippo 2m. He struggles getting bend and his lateral movement suffers when attempting to get into a stance. He also is a crafty scorer off the dribble. 1 quarter from Moses Moody. Subscribe. To be frank, he looks like an elite shooting prospect when you factor in size. One of the elite high school scorers of the last half decade, … Offensively, Coleman has showed continued improvement in skill areas as he continued to play more on-ball over the last year and a half. He does have good size and length for a ball-handler though. The clear strengths of Kuminga that immediately draw you in are his size, athleticism, potential defensive ability and the fact he’s had a lot of trial and error reps as a ball-handler. The number of guys you’ll find at his age and size who posses the shooting, self-creation and basketball awareness that he does is a small list. Trae Young is a super elite passer with unlimited shooting range and 99th percentile skills. The defensive upside is worth a lottery look and depending on further offensive improvement, Jackson could find himself in the conversation of a top 3 big in the class. pic.twitter.com/phesOv6W44, — Ross Homan (@Ross_homan1) June 27, 2020. One of the better shooters in the class, an elite speed guy and a budding point-guard skillset, Steward is a guy that I could see being as good as a lottery level prospect. For a while I was set on Springer being a point guard moving forward, and although I have become less certain, he still displays the ability to run a team and self-create in the halfcourt, along with the size and versatility to be able to play more of a two guard role. Yes, it could have been a lack of interest, but it still isn’t great to see. Where I land on Suggs coming into the season is simple. You’ll see he has a very easy and smooth dribble to shot transfer that will aid in his ability to get up shots and keep defenders guessing about his next move (should perfect hesitation moves and use head-fakes). Date de naissance: 05.08.2002. Other times, he would be too aggressive in defending his man, as he would pick up touch fouls, and he also can sometimes overplay his man or the passing lane, which can lead him to get beat off the dribble. He would leap up to collect numerous boards on both ends of the floor, and he would leap up to aggressively get his team rebounds. At a bit taller than 6’4, Springer is one of the stronger players in the class and uses it well, especially defensively. I recently wrote a piece on Keon Johnson (linked under Keon Johnson above) and whether or not opportunistic scoring, along with other factors, could be a good predictive quality when trying to pinpoint prospects taking unexpected leaps in their game. Though he may not be an elite athlete, he is a a high IQ basketball player that can find ways to make solid plays in games. Somewhat talked about as a player that can lack offensive aggression, this was true with Montverde, though that’s a sample that’s tough to gauge. L’année 2021 a débuté et « 20 Minutes » vous présente celles et ceux qui vont l’animer par leur créativité, leur performance ou leur bienveillance. Plus, he also excelled at scoring on hustle plays. I’m not 100% bought into this happening, but I probably have a little more faith in his shooting future than most do. He can at times though fall into a settling mood where he will gladly take contested 3-point shots rather than take an open lane and challenge somebody at the rim. Exhibit 10. Really versatile shooter with capabilities of off-ball/off-movement, dribble step-backs, forward momentum shots, etc. Pre-knee injury burst is back and the touch seems to be improving the more game reps he gets. If he can take a step forward as a perimeter shooter this season, I think I could even talk myself into a late lottery type of prospect. Physicality and mobility both really impressive. Davis comes into Wisconsin wildly underrated from an rsci standpoint. Garuba is also a terrific rebounder. His basketball awareness on defense translates very well to offense. A record of points (12) and assists (4) in the NBA to start the year 2021. Matthew Strazel averaged 5.0 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game, playing 4 games with LDLC ASVEL, during the 2020-2021 Jeep Elite regular-season. I love his ability to lose his man going sideways and backwards, but need to see an improvement with his ability to get downhill in the halfcourt. Matthew Strazel, né le 5 août 2002 à Bourg-la-Reine, est un joueur français de basket-ball. He does show flashes, however. He showed off solid scoring and playmaking skills, and he excelled at taking the ball to the basket to help generate offense for his team. Because of his experience as a ball-handler and his phenomenal passing ability, Barnes is one of the better short-roll bigs in the last few years. Agbo has good size for a forward along with really good shooting production. I recently wrote an in-depth piece on Keon Johnson and why I am so high on him as a prospect: Years ago, Boston was a player who thrived on defense, transition play and his good size and length on the wing. A mature game, Williams can do a lot of different things out of the PnR and counters how defenses play him very well, including great passing awareness. One of his more underrated traits is his ability to finish at the rim in the halfcourt. However, his lack of size or ideal physical tools would make it tough for him to get rebounds amidst crowds, and he was not able to come away with boards in either of the two games. There’s a chance he evolves into a really good shot-making, forward sized player who can defend bigger wings and power forwards. Though he doesn’t have the same upside as some prospects in this class, Barnes’ defensive ceiling, passing ability and overall basketball knowledge and awareness creates a prospect that should be valued, even with his lack of perimeter shooting. He uses his length and anticipation well in defensive disruption, as he averaged 2.3 steals and 0.9 blocks per36 in EYBL. If he were going to a school with a more clear pathway for minutes and on-ball usage, I’d consider him a top 40 one-and-done prospect. There is an interesting mechanical issue with Johnson’s lower body when moving that holds back what could be a more explosive horizontal athlete. At least as an on-ball guy. Springer also is an advanced post player, which with his strength will add some advantage plays for him. A couple of players who’d round out my top 10 are Reece Beekman, Andre Curbelo, Jaylin Williams, Jaden Ivey, D’Andre Davis, Javohn Garcia, Tramon Mark. On the plus side, Suggs is a phenomenal reactive basketball player who has continued to make strides in his perimeter shot-making, to the point where it is a true strength. I don’t buy the lead guard upside with Green, but do think he could provide some offensive value to NBA teams, even if it’s as a 6th man microwave scorer. So let me start this off by saying I’m still living and learning when it comes to trying to diagnose and predict biomechanical strengths and weaknesses in regards to players, so these are just observations and predictions, not guaranteed issues.
